On May 13, 2006, our club hosted a black-tie dinner to raise funds for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Enough tickets were sold that we were able to present the Foundation with a cheque for $2800.
Our President, Don Houghton, is shown presenting the cheque to Randil Claxton, President of the Hospital Foundation, and also a member of our club.
The speaker for the evening was Lieutenant General Andrew Leslie, who spoke to us about the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan, and his experiences there.
Guests were regaled with a pre-prandial cocktail, a five-course dinner, and a traditional glass of port after dessert.
This event was a first for our club, but based on comments of many of the guests, it will not be the last of this type.
Thanks go especially to one of our newer members, Dennis Margueratt, for conceiving the idea and carrying it through (with the help of other members of the club).
